Last month, the Bishop of Plymouth commissioned my successor, Deacon Phil Wales, to be the new Warden of the College of St Philip the Deacon in the Diocese of Exeter.

I know that some dioceses with sizeable companies of distinctive deacons are contemplating the possibility of creating a college or similar for their deacons. This short service of commissioning took place within our annual patronal Eucharist in Exeter cathedral, and may be useful to such dioceses who are fielding a warden, dean, bishop’s officer (or whatever!) for such a college. Feel free to use it or plunder it for your own situations where appropriate.

The warden’s commitments are based on our Introduction to the College, to be found on our diocesan web page https://exeter.anglican.org/ministry/vocations/diocesan-deacons/
